About DebtGPT DebtGPT is an AI app that helps Americans get out of credit card debt. Users connect their debts, see an exact debt-free date, and the app routes them to the right path, from a self-serve plan to a settlement program with our partners. We have live paid traffic, active enrollment partners, and a product that already makes money. Now we need the engineer who will own it. The role You’ll own the codebase end to end and lead engineering as our first senior hire. Your job is to ship fast and turn traffic into enrolled, paying customers. You’ll work daily with the CEO on priorities, run a small team, and set the engineering bar for everyone who joins after you. What you’ll do Own the platform: Next.js frontend, FastAPI backend, AWS (ECS Fargate), and the deploy pipeline. You ship to production several times a week. Drive conversion. Instrument the journey, run the weekly testing loop, and move the numbers that matter: credit-pull completion, enrollment and first payment. Build the agent layer: tool-based AI skills, an MCP server, and evals. All financial math stays deterministic, and every user action goes through an approval gate.
